Father's Day

Masculine cards are so hard sometimes! I think mine tend to start to all look the same so I tried something I learned while teaching the Quick Quotes Convention Classes.

The Quick Quotes blog's current challenge is to use their inks to create a background somewhere on your creation. Can you see mine?

Under the Dad is a red piece of their Ode to Joy paper line that I used their inks to stipple and make the gear design!!

I used a chipboard gear from their balloon 8x10 chipboard, taped it down and used my stiple brush with Blue Hawaiian to ink all around the gear.

Since I was doing 2 of these cards, one for my dad and one for my boyfriend's dad, I cut the gear in half to use on both cards. I flipped it over and using the same ink, I used my Stampin Up Sense of Time (retired) set to stamp some more gears on the chipboard, inked the edges, added a piece of cappuccino twine and glued it down.

The "Dad" started out as cream paper. I inked it with Mocha Mama, stamped the same gears in Mocha Mama. I did all that before I pulled the cut off my Cricut Mat. So then I took it off the mat and added a bit of Blue Hawaiian with a sponge.

You will see a layout using the same paper next week :)

I hope all the fathers out there have a wonderful Father's Day!!

I love the clever way you used the chipboard as a mask and then part of your card! Brilliant!! Thanks for joining us for this month's Quick Quote challenge!
