Cupcake Toppers!

Good Afternoon Bloggers!!!

I know I said I would have these super cute cupcake toppers on Friday but it was just too much of a crazy day to get a blog post in. Then I had to get the pictures from my mom's camera. But good news: I got the new cord for my camera today and it is charging as we speak!!! YAY! So on to the project:

Last week we had a suprise baby shower for a wonderful lady at work. It was a complete success! She was so suprised and it was fun to be in on such a fun event. Between my department and her department we all helped put stuff together for the shower. I did some quick and cute baby cupcake toppers to put on top of the cupcake my boss was making :)

I made pink toppers to put on the blue cupcakes

and blue toppers to put on the pink cupcakes

I used the Stampin Up! scallop circle punch to punch the circles, and the cricut to cut the white circles. I all over stamped on the white circles with an old baby stamp set I have. I used Beacon's Glue to glue the stick to one of the scallop circles and popdots to adhere the other scallop circle.

Here is the whole display. I love this cupcake tower I found at Target for just $20.

They took about a hour and a half to make start to finish and I did 50 of them.

Baby shower stuff

Hi! I fell of the edge again there for a couple of weeks. I had the baby shower and all was a success. I have been relaxing (just a tiny bit) and getting ready for a craft show at work. Yes, at work! Every year my work has what they call our "entrepreneur show" if you make or sell anything outside of work, we have a 2 hour lunch that we all set up tables. We make gift card holders (really cute ones this year) and I am making a sample wedding album to take orders for custom made ones. Wish us luck!

Now on to show you the crafty stuff I made for the baby shower.

This is one side of the centerpieces. I make 6 of them from diapers (about 5-6 diapers per cake) I cut the animals from animal kingdom cricut cartridge, once normally and once in blackout and attached them to bamboo sticks (made for shish kabobs) The it's a boy is from another cartridge (that the name is escaping me right now). you can see the back of the center circle in the next picture.

It is harder to tell on the yellow lion, but I using markers, I darkened all the lines that the cricut cuts for the details so you could see them while sitting at the table.

This is the diaper cake I made. The topper is the words from the centerpieces I didn't use just on a square of green cardstock. The animals I purchased at Joan's for less than $1 each and they were pre-painted! Perfect for our animal theme. I cut Christian out and glued it just to the ribbon, not the diapers. I taped the animals on with double sided tape so that after the shower, my friend could use them as emblishments on the frames I gave her. Those pictures next! The base is a circle of cardboard I cut from the side of a box that I just glued some ribbon around the edge to make it presentable.

I got the frames at Pat Catans for $1 each. They are wood frames so I painted the edges white and let them dry overnight before I put the paper on. The animals are not glued on yet, I left that for the mom to do since I used them on the diaper cake. I did glue the ribbon, circle emblishment and the baby's name on.

I was thinking she could put the one with his name in the middle of the other two on the wall in the baby's room. I can't wait to meet the new little one!!

Prize Bags

OMG its been a week since I have posted! I need to not do that. LOL

Thank you for all the birthday wishes. I had a great, relaxing fun weekend. I refused to work on any of my to-do list for my birthday so it is making for a semi-stressed week this week. I am in the middle of many projects which explains why I haven't had anything to post! Nothing is done yet. Well one thing is....

For the baby shower this Sunday, we have some games we will be playing (more on that later) so I had to have some prizes for the winners! At Joan's in their $1 section by the checkouts they had lotion, hand soap and hand sanitzer in 2 scents. (This was a month and a half or so ago) So I got 4 sets, (1 of each item, 2 in one scent, and 2 of the other) for prizes. But I wanted to dress them up some. My original idea was to get a cute basket and weave some ribbon into it. Well after hitting 3 stores, I couldn't find a basket I liked that was under $10 a piece! Now I am trying to keep in a budget for the shower, so those were just out of my range. So instead I got some cute kraft color gift bags for $0.33 each! Much better. Add some colored tissue paper, and some quick home-made emblishments, and I love the way these turned out. It took about 10 minutes to cut and glue everything so I got a lot of my other projects half done in the same night. So enough talking and start sharing!

Here is a close-up of the tag. Cut from the Sentimentals cart. I put what scent is on the inside so I don't have to dig through the bags when someone wins. Yes, I put a blue jingle bell on them so they ring when you walk with it. I saw them in my stash and just had to add one to each tag.

When I got the blue tissue paper, I was thinking I would stick with the blue/green/yellow theme of the rest of the shower, but I didn't want to have the gifts be baby in theme. And this way, they can re-use the bag and tag (just put a piece of paper over the scent and use it for your own gift tag) if they want to :)

Well I hope the winners on Sunday enjoy these as much as I did putting them together!

Now I said I would mention something about the games I am doing for the shower. I am doing to do "Guess that Nursery Rhyme" I am going to cut the silloutte from 10 rhymes from the Nursery Rhymes cricut cartrige and have the guests guess what rhyme it is from. Bonus points if you know the last line of the rhyme. I am going to get those cut tonight so I can copy them tomorrow. So come back tomorrow and check out the game page!

Treats!

No tricks here! For my friend's baby shower, I decided to do treat bags as the favors. She is having a boy so I got all green and blue candy from B.A. Sweetie. The paper colors and the giraffe match the invites I did that you can see here. They have taken me a little longer than I thought (I made 50) mostly because I only work on them for like 30 minutes a night. I will finish them no matter what tonight! I also started her diaper cake and centerpieces (which will be mini diaper cakes) last night so look for those pictures next week!

The giraffe is cut from EDPP. The stamp on the tag, the scallop circle punch and the clear bags are from Stampin Up! (and the name of the stamp set is escaping me at the moment....) and the blue circle is a punch from CM.

Baby Invites and my first entry into a Challenge

I wanted to start posting at least once a week, but because I am so behind on showing you things, I figured I might as well post today too!

On my list of to-do items I have baby shower favors. Well, I had already finished the invites for the shower and sent those out! My friend Erin is due January 1st with her first baby and I am helping throw her a baby shower in November. I couldn't think of a better person to become a mother.

I sent her to splitcoaststampers (my favorite! I could really spend hours on there. They should pay me for advertising! lol) and told her to look at some ideas on there and send them to me. Well she found the cutest pocket baby invite. I tweeked it a little and here is my result

I used 3 different pattern papers from a DCWV stack (from years ago I'm sure) so I could get enough and not have to go buy more paper. The blue is all one piece. I took the 8 1/2 x 11 paper and cut it in half in portrait instead of landscape which is the traditional card size. I folded it in half then folded down the top 1 inch. then glued the side and you have a pocket! The giraffe is from the cricut cart everyday paper dolls and the diaper pins are from new arrival. There is a tag inside the pocket that I just cut a rectangle, rounded the corners and added some ribbon for easy pulling. Behind the tag I printed a sheet with directions to the shower for the guests.

I really love the way these turned out and my friend loved them too (added bonus! lol)

So while I was catching up on reading the other blogs I follow, I noticed at Craft Your Days Away they are doing a baby challenge. So I figured why not enter them for the random drawing :) This will be the first time I have participated in a challenge, but I see myself becoming addicted quickly!

So, I hope you like the invites. Maybe by next week I will have the favors done too :)
