Class pages update

Hi again all!

I wanted to post the pictures of my September and November class pages. I don't do a layout class in October, I normally do a more involved class. This October I did the advent calendar you can see here which will be featured in an upcoming Cricut Chirp newsletter (yay again!)

For September I decided to do a different kind of baby page. My club members had been asking for this for a long time and I was hesitant to do it. It ended up being one of the hardest pages for me to get ready for class. I asked the club ladies if they wanted girl boy or neutral and all my extra kits I did in neutral. Here is what it looked like.

I don't remember where I saw the title but I loved it! I can just see a cute black and white picture of a newborn or "just bloomed" baby in there! I did keep a couple extra of this page for myself to make and give away as gifts for 2 friends who had babies this year. I got the pictures printed so now I just need to make their pages. For the girl or boy ones, the title and swirls on page one, and some of the flower layers on page two were pink or blue. They came out very nice as well. I was really happy with this page and so were the ladies.

For November I was originally going to do a Thanksgiving page. We can always use more of those! It happens every year :) But, since my Christmas advent calendar class had gotten cancelled, I had all the paper and cut sizes ready to go for that so I decided to re-purpose them and here is what I came up with

 

The red space in the middle is exactly 6 inches wide so I can fit 3 landscape 4x6 photos in there! Or get more creative and do some sort of photo collage (which is what I plan to do). I thought with everything going on in the squares the page didn't really need a title which is a first for me! I can't wait to get some pictures on this one and add some stickles to the squares. Tool Belt Details and July's page

Hi again.
Everytime I think I am going to be able to post something within a day or 2 something comes up and I either forget or just don't have time. Don't you hate that? We had a new person start at work so I have been spending most of my days in training and don't get my usual breaks to post wonderful things for you!

So I said I would give you more details on how to create the tool belt from last month's page you can see in this post. Here we go!
• You need 4 pieces of paper needed to create the tool belt: 6x2, 4x3 and two ¾ in strips
o The 6x2 piece is scored at ½, ¾, 2¼, 2½, 3½, 3¾, 5¼, 5½  Fold along the scores as shown in the picture.
o There are 4 overlapping folds in the tool belt. At the bottom of each of the folds, punch a hold and set an eyelet
o Once all 4 eyelets are set, glue the edges and the middle (we want to leave the pocket un-glued) flush to the bottom of the 4x3 rectangle. One side may be a little long, just trim the extra
o On one of your ¾ strips, at the end, punch 2 holes next to each other and set 2 eyelets
o Glue your 2 ¾ strips to the top of the tool belt and fold over as shown in the picture
o Round the two bottom corners of the tool belt and the ends of the strip by the eyelets
o Using a black marker, hand draw stitching all around the tool belt

When I saw Bo Bunny's new patriotic line I knew I had to do a 4th of July page. And of course, July was the perfect month to do it!

The cuts were all from either the Stand and Salute cart or Graphically Speaking. I just love the fireworks on page 2!

Next month's page is going to have robots on it with the title "Programmed to" and you can fill in the blank. Programmed to Love, or play, or sleep or whatever goes with the pictures you want to use. I am also working on a card for our upcoming card swap in September and my October weekend crop project, an advent calendar! Lots of exciting projects to work on :)

Catching up!

Hi everyone!
I know it has been a while. With the move, it was kind of crazy! I haven't done much creating over the past 2 months other than my monthly pages but that will change this weekend (hopefully). I plan on going to get the shelves I want to finish my craft room and everything will finally be out of boxes! YAY! Once that happens, I will post picture of my new favorite room :)

So I am going to play catch up today and tomorrow to show you the last 3 months of my club pages. I have opened enrollment into the club so you can join anytime, not just at the beginning of the year. I am now up to 28 ladies a month! So I am making 34 kits a month! It is starting to really be a huge project every month but it is always something I look forward to doing.

My June kit was a wedding themed page, but if you just switch out one of the pattern papers you could really use it for any pictures. I used my favorite color combination: red/black/white. And my mom just got the butterfly punch from Stampin Up! so I had to use it!

I always put together a page of extras for someone to win in class to take their page to the next level. You can see on this page, I added bling and pearls and a love sticker on page 2. These were not included in the kit, but you could win the extras. And it is nice to show the ladies how they can take the page to the next level on their own at home!

For June I saw this great paper at Joann Fabrics and knew I had to do something with it! Since I did such a girly page for May, I did a guy page for June. I included a "s" in the kit so you could make the title Mr. or Mrs. depending on what pictures you have. I know some females who do all the work around the house! I had taken a class at the Mega Meet and they used this foil tape which is just great to emboss on. You can get it at at home improvement store. It was by the duct tape. I got a whole roll (the size of a duct tape roll) for like $7. And still have a ton of it left! I also picked up some nails and washers while I was at Home Depot and some thin measuring tapes from a discount home improvement store to cut apart and use like ribbon!

I found an online tutorial to make the tool belt you see on page 2. I will post the dimentions for the toolbelt and July's page tomorrow.

Zoo Day!

Greetings!

I am happy that I finally took the time to order a new cord for my camera. Should be here next week so no more phone photos. Yay! This is especially exciting since I am planning on entering some projects to become a design team member for Quick Quotes. You all know how much I love them! And I will be back working at the booth at the Mega Meet in Novi, Michigan in just a couple of weeks! See everyone there :)

So today I am sharing some (bad) pictures of the page I made for my April club. I will take some better ones when I get my cord (Yay again! LOL). I decided on a Zoo theme since I live in Cleveland Ohio and we have one of the best zoos in the country. I would have been amazed if someone had said they hadn't been to the zoo. I could make a 100 page book with pictures from the zoo since I was teeny tiny to just this year. Although, I plan to use my page to scrap pictures from a trip to the Columbus Ohio Zoo which is also awesome. So here is my interactive page

This is the 2 page layout. I used Karen Foster paper and stickers and the Zoo Lift Cricut Lite Cartrige for the title.

This is a close up of page 2. I showed the students how they can create a interactive page by creating a flap and you can have a hidden picture or journaling. We also went over how to mark your page protector and cut a slit in it so that your page can still be interactive even in a top loading album.

I can't wait to get some pictures developed to add to this page.

Wall Clock

Greetings bloggers!

I wanted to share with you the class I did in March at the Scrapbook Ministry. We found these cute wall clocks on clearance at Joan Fabrics and then I altered and took them to the next level. My living room is all black and red so it will be perfect in my new place (oh yeah, I am moving in May!)

Here is what one of the ladies, Deb, in my class did with her kit. I gave everyone all black white and gray pieces and they got to accent it with what they wanted. People did everything from green, pink, blue and Deb did brown. This is already up and hanging in her kitchen.









So, as I mentioned above I am so excited to be moving in May! Part of it is because I am moving in with my boyfriend of a year and a half. The other reason is that I am finally getting a dedicated craft room!!! This is so great since my craft area is my current dining room! lol.

Phase II

Wow, I keep starting out strong on here, then falling off the edge!

So I am vowing to try to start up once again. Although, you may have to deal with less-than-great-quality photos since I lost the cord to my camera months ago and still haven't ordered a replacement. Crazy, I know. It is on my to-do list for this weekend.

Also on my to-do list is to create the sample and kits for my March class which is a wall clock. Should be very fun to do. And my boyfriend will quit complaining about how loud my current living room clock is when I replace it with my oh-so-cute home made one.

This was the January page. "All that Glitters is SNOW" I thought it came out very cute. It uses Bo Bunny's new Midnight Frost line which I just fell in love with when I saw it. The "Glitters" font is from Hannah Montana cart. Never would have guessed that one would you? Turns out I LOVE that cart. Lots of great fonts and really cute if you know anyone into music.

Here is the first page of my layout for February. I used an actual ruler on the page which I saw someone do online. I thought it was great to use some everyday stuff on a layout. I used bakers twine to string the banners onto and then tied them right onto the ruler. The calendar page was something someone was throwing out at work that I confiscated! lol

I added more things to this page after I took the picture. I will have to get them back out tonight and take a proper finished picture

Gift Card Holders

I feel like it is has been forever since I have made a scrapbook page! I keep working on all kinds of "projects" which are just as fun :)
I mentioned in my last post about my job's entrepreneur show. Every year my mom and I make some kind of cute gift card holder that we sell for just $1. Dresses up those plain gift card gifts into something just a tad more special. Here are the ones we have completed so far this year. No two will be the same!

And here are what the insides look like. They have a pocket for your gift card! 



And here is my lovely mom. I was told I MUST make sure to say I have not done all of these on my own. Of course I haven't! In two nights, together, my mom and I have completed what you see here :)

I also wanted to say, that over on facebook (there is a link to your right somewhere) my "Scrapbook Ministry" page is hosting their first challenge. It is a color challenge to use fall colors. You just have to be a fan of the scrapbook ministry and upload a picture of your crafty project. A random winner will be choosen. What will the prize be? Not sure yet, but some sort of goodies from me :)

Travel Book

When I posted all about the Scrapbook Ministry here I mentioned in March and October we do big weekend crops. I wanted to share the 8x8 Travel theme album I did as a (2 1/2 hour) class for this last one in October. The class was not sold out so I still have some extras. I am working on setting up an esty.com shop and plan on selling the rest of my kits as finished products for $30 with tons of extras left over once the album is done. The pattern paper is from a (I think discontinued) DCWV travel stack. The solid papers I purchased at a local paper store. The emblisments are from lots of different places and most from bag sales of discontinued product. I used the street signs, tags bags boxes and more, and graphically speaking carts from cricut. (there may be a couple more I used but I have to check my notes at home lol)

Here are the pages

I didn't decorate the cover on this abum so that you could personalize it to the specific place you went to. It is an SEI album. The first page is what I called a vacation calendar in class. There are 5 tags in the pocket for you to journal what you did on the days of your vacation. You can add more tags or use less of them depending on how long your vacation was.

Page 2 and 3 come with a die cut of both a car and an airplane. Use one or both depending on how you traveled during or on the way to your vacation.

Page 4 and 5 I planned to use for all my tickets during the trip. Plane tickets, theme park tickets, mini golf or movie tickets. Both pages are pockets behind the red "admit one" line of tickets.

Page 6 and 7 will be custom to you as well. There is a US map and a world map for you to choose from. I am using my album for a trip to Florida so I used the US map and placed my star in Florida where I was visiting. You can do the same.

Page 8 and 9 look simple but are a lot of fun to put together. Page 9 is created from different size papers glued together to create a 8x8 page. This helps you see more of your paper and not "waste" it behind other patterns. I did this a lot for this album.

 Page 10 and 11. In class I had everyone do the all over stamping and cutting and inking shown on page 11. I will complete this part for the rest of the albums. This was one of the favorites in class.

Page 12 and 13. The teal road signs can be used for journaling or small pictures. There is a large chipboard arrow behind the "scenic route" phrase that adds some dimension to the page.

Page 14 and 15 The flags on page 14 are created from the stampin up! scallop square folded in half to make a triangle and glued with a toothpick in the middle. They spell "travel". Page 15 is a collage of vintage rubons and vintage stamps.

Page 16 and 17 I used 2 of the 8x8 white sheets that come in all the page protectors in an album.

Page 18 and 19 The rust paper squares on these two pages I had the students cut apart in class based on a chart I gave them. They are all cut from one 11x8 1/2 piece of paper. This will be done for you in the finished album.

Page 20 this last page I thought looked like some luggage tags hanging down. Great for lots of journaling or some pictures on the way home.

Scrapbook Ministry

Hi everyone! No new projects today.... I just wanted to share some new information though!


I live in the Northeast Ohio area and have been fortunate to find a wonderful group of ladies who also scrapbook! My friend Joan started the group through her church and we call it Scrapbook Ministry. I think that puts some people off, but its not a super religious group or anything. We just hold our monthly crops at a church, in the youth center. We have a group on facebook. Go here to "Like" us!!

We started 3-ish years ago with about 10 ladies... we now have an email distribution list of over 80 ladies and continue to grow! We hold a monthly crop on a Saturday from 9am-4pm with 1 or 2 optional additional classes. The cost to come is just $1 for your space! This goes towards food since breakfast and lunch are included for your $1!!! Can't beat that anywhere! Twice a year (in March and October) we hold weekend crops. There are many more optional classes offered, including some free classes. Those are all day Friday (8am - midnight) and longer on Saturday (8am-6pm)


I hold a class every month of a 2 page 12x12 layout for $5. The theme is always different and I try to teach something new in each class. I have a club called, Liz's Layout Ladies (the name was choosen by the members not me! lol) which are ladies who have commited to purchase my class kit every month. I do this in 5 month groups. At the end of your "term" I give a special gift. The benefit of being a member is that you are guaranteed a kit for that month, even if you can't make it to the crop. I hold them for up to 3 months.

Starting in November, I am going to hold a challenge on the facebook page. It might be a theme challenge, a certain kind of emblishment to use, color combination or all kinds of other things! To enter you will have be a fan of the scrapbook ministry on facebook and upload you picture to the gallery there. I will post the challenge here as well, but to enter you must do it on facebook. Each challenge will run for a month and will have some sort of prize/gift for a random winner.
