Same Card 2 Ways! part 1

Hope everyone is having a good week so far! I am now in Tennessee enjoying some vacation time with my boyfriend and his family.

Sometimes when I make a card, I thought it was so cute/easy/fun I want to make another just like it!
So today, I am going to show you the way I took the same design card and make it for 2 occasions.

I saw the original design in a card magazine from a couple months ago and tucked it away as something I wanted to re-create.
The first one started as a Thank You card. I have been getting requests for these at work lately. The glitter paper is from SEI that I have had forever. The twine is of course from the Twinery, in Charcoal. The sentiment is from a Unity/Jillibean Soup set called Apple Cheddar Soup.

Since I need so many birthday cards, I also wanted to make this into a birthday card. The sentiment I wanted to use, from Close to My Heart, is bigger than the thank you. So I stamped in on another panel and moved the placement.

I inked the edges of everything with Quick Quotes powder puff ink in Maraschino Cherry.

~Check out Just A Scrappin this week for a great challenge: Celebrate using Pink, White and Blue with pearls or rhinestones. You can see my take on the challenge here

Lots going on this month! Check back Thursday for another version of same card 2 ways!

Manly Birthday Card

Ahh, the manly card. This always seems to be every one's nemesis.I am here to tell you it's not that bad!

When my boyfriend bought a Harley, I knew I had to have this stamp set from Close to My Heart called Born to Ride. And my Uncle whose birthday this month also owns a Harley so this was perfect! If the motorcycle wasn't manly enough, just stay away from bling, flowers and buttons. I don't know why buttons, but my boyfriend always says, why is there a button there? So I avoid buttons on anything I do for him which turns into anything I do for a guy. The phrase is also from Close to My Heart.
I added some twine and dots with my viva pearl pen in black.

The paper is from Echo Park's dots and stripes line.

The stars are from the same motorcycle set. I stamped them with Versamark on the green. Then I stamped one on a scrap piece of green, cut it out and used a pop dot.

Hope you like the card and this inspires you to do something a little manly for the wonderful men in your life. Check back tomorrow for a simple card :)

Pinwheels!

Hello again! I hope everyone is working on their wedding card for this week's challenge at Just A Scrappin'!

In the mean time, I am still working on birthday cards for my family. I told you I have a big family! LOL

I started at the Anything Goes Challenge Blog where they asked us to create a polka dot birthday. I had purchased some 6x6 paper pads from ScrapAce a couple months back that included an Echo Park dots and stripes pack from their Soda Fountain line. The perfect polka dots!

I wasn't feeling completely inspired just by the paper so I checked out 365 Cards. They do a new challenge everyday! Day 116 was a lovely sketch. And over at Krafty Girls, they are  having a fun in the sun challenge. I love watching pinwheels spin in the sun so I had all the ideas for my card!

Here is a close up of the pinwheels. I used Twinery twine in Buttercream, Caribbean and Maraschino in the middle of the buttons. The stamp is from CTMH. The inside says "I'm just extending the celebration!" So perfect for those belated birthday cards. I think I used this stamp about 5 times this month alone! I still believe better late than never :)

I normally don't blog on the weekends, but I have a lovely family layout that I have been wanting to share all ready for tomorrow!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Woo Hoo!!

Hi all! I can't believe isn't been so long since I have posted! I thought there couldn't be a better reason to post than today! I got an email that the advent calendar I created for a class (that got canceled sadly) was chosen  by Cricut to be featured in an upcoming Chirp newsletter!! I assume is will be closer to Christmas since it is a Christmas Advent calendar. So everyone go sign up to get the newsletter :)

Since I am not at home this week, I vow to try to get caught up on everything I have done for the last couple of weeks when I do get home after Thanksgiving.

While I am here I can also tell you a little bit about the Great Lakes MINI Meet. The Mega meet held the mini meet in Toledo, Ohio for the first time this year. Which is closer for me so mom and I went to Toledo for the day on Friday. I had a great time and plan to go back next year. I took a great Halloween chipboard album class from an Ohio local scrapbook store, Scrap Happy Ohio. I think I might just have to take a road trip to Tiffin soon! And did lots of great shopping. Picked up a couple of new things that I will share soon :)

In the meantime, I want to share the birthday card my mom made for me

We ordered the Cricut Cart and stamp sets from Close to My Heart and this awesome Halloween stamp set was the stamp of the month. For those who may not know, my birthday is Halloween so I LOVE everything Halloween. My mom stamped this image and used pearlex to color it. Then used deco scissors and a silver krylon pen around the edge. Then layered it with another panel of pearlex and deco scissors and silver krylon. LOVE IT!!!

Until next time!
