Just A' Scrappin' - First Design Team Challenge!

MY FIRST DESIGN TEAM PROJECT!!

Over at Just A Scrappin' they are having a new challenge this week:

WEDDING

The challenge runs for a week so I hope you will join us this week :)

 I have a wedding to attend later this year that the color is purple. I had a scrap of this purple rose paper from a previous layout that immediately came to mind. Pretty sure it is really old DCWV paper.

I wanted to something a little non-traditional wedding (which fits the couple) so I did a card made from acrylic instead of cardstock. I found this great vellum quote from Quick Quotes that I layered behind another piece of the pattern paper and made a frame to go around it. Added some flowers, pearl pen dots, twine and glue butterflies covered with purple glitter.

 

I love the way the butterflies show through to the inside of the card. When doing an acrylic card, you have to cover everything you did from the back to the front. So I cut more purple squares for the inside. I decorated one side with another piece of pattern paper and the other square to write a message to the couple.

Here is the back of the card. You can still see the butterflies which I love. I added the square to the back to hide the glue holding the inside square on.

Gift Card Holders - Final Round 2011

Hi everyone!

For my final Gift Card Holder post, I am posting all of the non-Christmas ones my mom and I made. But never fear, at the end of the post I do have a Christmas related project too!

 Here is yet another favorite of mine. I know I have so many! I created these 2 holders with love/wedding theme in mind. I just LOVE this white on white wedding dress. A better picture is below. It is from the Cricut Wedding Solutions Cartridge. I will be using this on all of my future wedding cards!

Without realizing it when I made these holders, I love this technique. I stamped the abc small background stamp from Stampin Up! and cut into a square. Then I cut that into 3 panels and off-set the middle one. I liked these so much I did the same technique on my Christmas cards!

And these ties are just too cute! Don't you agree? And of course mom had to do her roses on something!

As promissed here is a Christmas project!!

For the same handmade gift exchange that I made the reindeer wrapping for the glittered ornament, my mom one of her wonderful frames. She has made this many times over but  I hadn't seen a Christmas theme one before. I LOVE it so much, I even requested one for myself for Christmas :)



And again you get to see mom's roses. And that is what I call them now whenever I refer to them.

8x8 Wedding Album: Part 2

Well I got to cross off something from my to-do list and I guess that is a good thing since this wedding book was for my cousin who got married this past weekend. Congrats to Karyn and Tim!!! It was a GREAT time.

I loved it last year when I went to Quick Quotes Private Reserve that they took the plain album and decorated the front. I do this all the time now. Its cheaper to buy a plain album and I get the added bonus of making the album that much more personal.

So after making this album, I decided to take orders for wedding albums. We have an entrepeuner show at my work every year so I will start there, and have forms at all the crafty things I go to. You can choose the titles of your 20 pages and I will custom make them using these layouts and the specific bridal party colors. With an album for $30. I might start an etsy.com marketplace too and see if there is an interest.... I just have to make the sample since this particiular album I purchased stickers and stuff that I know I can substitute cricut cuts..... And I am going to make a baby version :)

I took one thing off my to-do list and just added 2 more!!! I think Im working backwards here..... LOL

2 cards in 1 night

I had one night to get 2 cards done last week for this weekend. The good news is that I got them done! There really isn't bad news.... yay!

The first card was for a wedding for my boyfriend's cousin's wedding this past Saturday. We talked about go-to cards last week, and this is definitely my go-to card for a wedding. I used all neutral colors since I wasn't sure what her wedding colors were.

The heart is an old punch I got from somewhere.... I cut 1/2in strips of paper in black gray and silver (the silver is from SU! the other paper is from a paper by the pound local store) and weaved them together. Glued that behind the heart punch and layered like so. The pearls are just pre-stuck bling I had in my stash.
The second card I needed was for my boyfriend. This Sunday was our 1 year anniversary. I didn't want to make anything to mushy and girly for him, but it had to be right for the occasion. Here is what I came up with

So this was made with pattern paper from an old DCWV paper stack. I used a white base with pattern paper on top. I used SU!'s top note die for the main focus mat. The 3 punches from SU!'s label punch were from a matching pattern paper from DCWV. The stamp is from SU!'s Sage Advice and I used bliss blue to stamp and to sponge the die cut. Again, I used some random pre-stuck bling to finish it off. The boyfriend loved it, along with the wall mounted guitar holder I got him :)

8x8 Wedding Album: Part 1

I have been procrastinating on this album hard core. My cousin got engaged Christmas Eve 2009 so I really have no excuse as to why we are a week from the wedding and this book is still not done. Although, everything that is done, I got done in 1 day so I guess it is not as bad as it sounds.... So here is a little more than half the book in no particiular order

I got most of the paper from 2 paper packs I found at Wal-Mart. The stickers and rubons are from various different things I had or got in bag sales. The dark blue solid paper is from Archivers that matches the wedding blue exactly. I am not sure if I plan on giving it to her at the wedding empty, or if I will take pictures and send it to her after the wedding (she lives in a different state). I will probably ask her which she prefers at the rehersal dinner since she is not a major scrapbook addict like me. lol.
